The EC Way 100 Mile Loop

The EC WAY 100 Mile Loop

Explore Canada’s southernmost region on the 160 km EC WAY 100 – mile loop in a single day or multi-day tour!

To stay on track and avoid lengthy low comfort / intense roads follow the EC Way 100 and look for the “EC Way” symbol

The EC Way 100 is a 100 mile (160k) loop in Canada’s southernmost region that travels through eight municipalities, connects three major waterfronts (including Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River), the ferry to Pelee Island and branches to Point Pelee National Park. And, it is almost entirely on off-road, multi-use rail-trails, comfortable/low-intensity backroads & streets or along roads with some form of cycling facility. It is a selection of the best of what the County and the eight local municipalities have to offer cyclists of most levels today – combined into a continuous 100 mile loop.

The route is flat and scenic and loaded with amenities and things to see & do.

In 2020 the EC Way 100-mile loop was chosen as of one Ontario’s top five bike routes for all cyclists’ levels by JourneyWoman and Canadian Cycling April/May 2023.

Where to Park

Park and leave your car in designated locations along the route. Overnight parking is limited. Hotels often allow you to leave your car for the duration of your trip if you spend the first night at the hotel. In Windsor, a number of parking lots / garages are found near the waterfront portion of the route and at the Windsor Train Station. Park at own risk.

Where to Stay

The Essex/Kent region has a wide selection of bike-friendly accommodations, including camping, hotels, and B&Bs. For a listing, go to the What’s Where page.

Overnight communities found along the EC Way 100 include: Leamington (at Mile 1 & 100), Kingsville (at Mile 6-8), Oxley (at Mile 17), Colchester (at Mile 18/19), Harrow (at Mile 23/24), Windsor (at Mile 40-59), Tecumseh (at Mile 60-69) & Lakeshore (at Mile 70-77). Bike You Should Ride

The EC Way 100 travels along a variety of surfaces including trails made of crushed limestone, paved surfaces and gravel roads.

We suggest riding:

  • Gravel Bike
  • Hybrid Bike
  • Cyclocross Bike

Can you ride a road bike? Absolutely! But, only if you are an experienced rider and we still suggest putting on wider tires for comfort and stability.
